Introducing Lara – A Truly Inspirational 40+ Woman

I’m really excited to introduce my dear friend, Lara, to all of you.  Lara and I met through an online parenting group more than 12 years ago, and have seen each other through many life experiences, tragedies, joy and more than a few laughs.  A few years ago, when in her late 40s, still with young children, she made a huge change to embrace health, fitness and started up her own business. Lara is now a qualified fitness instructor, and her business offers Konga classes, boxing classes and more.  Please do take the time to have a look at...

Multi-Generational Living – Why It’s Fabulous

Feature image Photo credit: Archiblox via RealEstate.com.au I’ve been living the multi-gen life for two years now, and I can’t say enough good things about it!  My 81-years-young mother lives on the same block of land as me, in her own totally freestanding home.  It’s a granny flat, but we always refer to it as The Granny Palace, because it’s no shed, oh no, it’s a gorgeous 1 bedroom + study house with it’s own separate, fenced-in yard. 3 years ago I was living in a house with my 3 kids, a 5 minute drive from my mother’s place, which...

The Not-So-Young but still Restless

I’m not ashamed to say it, I’ve got some serious itchy feet! Fortunately my day job is in a podiatry clinic, so, after consultation with our podiatrist, I have been reliably informed that there is no cream or powder that will fix said issue.  That leaves travel and adventure as my only options, and I’m SO ok with that! Crochet your own starburst granny square bag

Hi everyone – today I’m sharing a post I originally wrote for my crochet and craft blog at stashingyarn.com.  I hope you enjoy it!  This is a simple-to-make crochet bag composed of gorgeous starburst (sometimes called sunburst) granny squares made using Cleckheaton California (from here in Australia) 100% wool in Mauve Glow and a 4mm hook.   I originally started crocheting these squares just to see how the colours in the yarn would work together, and was very happy with the results!  I sat with my little stack of pretty squares racking my brains as to what to make...

5 Truths of Solo Parenting

A long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away, my ex-husband and I had 2 boys together.  They are now 18 and 21, and have grown into fabulous, if somewhat messy and eternally-hungry young men. A few years after my divorce I met another man, found myself up the duff within 3 months of meeting him, and, to cut a long and tedious story short, have been on my own with our daughter since I was 12 weeks pregnant.  He was very, very occasionally involved during the first few years of her life, and then passed away when...
